Diving the
Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary

Two boats work the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary
regularly, the M/V
Spree and the M/V Fling. The good news is that  you
can have a good time
on either boat.

Nitrox - The Gulf Diving boats, the Fling and Spree, both have Nitrox
producing equipment on board.  Considering that the diving is deep
and flat profile diving, Nitrox is a huge benefit for extending your dive
time.  If you aren't Nitrox certified,  talk to your instructor or dive shop
before you go and consider this certification.

Cost - If you are able to go during the weekdays, your trip cost even
less.

Privacy - The Fling has doors on cabins with curtains on bunks and
bunk lights. The Spree has curtains on cabins and bunks, with bunk
lights.

Number of trips - The Gulf Diving boats have weekend and weekday
trips.

Comfort - The Gulf Diving boats are large, wide, and stable boats.

Experience - Gulf Diving, formally Rinn Boats, are the folks that helped
start it all at the Flower Gardens. Several crew members have worked
the boats for twenty years.

Other Boats - I currently have no information on other boats working
the Flower Gardens.   A few have occasional trips,  but  they seem to
come and go. If you would like to
add  information  on  other boats,
please send information
here.

Sea Searcher II - Has been sold and is no longer a dive boat
