About one hour after dark,  on the eighth
night following the August  full moon,  the
coral explodes into action filling the water
with millions of eggs.  The BB sized eggs
mix with sperm that has been released a
little earlier and float to the surface to be
carried away  by the current.
Later, they settle back  to  the  bottom to
find a suitable  hard  surface and  start a
new colony.

The  best place  to witness this mass
Coral  Spawn  is  the  Flower  Garden
Banks National Marine Sanctuary.
